Sustainability

A Responsible Business

At Carly Press, we believe that being a responsible business means more than just delivering exceptional printing services—it means committing to sustainability in everything we do.

Recyclable Packaging and Paper-Based Tapes:

We exclusively use recyclable packaging materials and paper-based tapes to ensure that our packaging processes are environmentally friendly.

Employee Training and Engagement:

All Carly Press employees receive training on sustainability and the importance of environmental responsibility. We actively encourage our team members to propose new ideas and methods for continuously improving our green practices.

Paper and Carton Recycling:

We recycle all paper and carton waste generated in our operations. This waste is collected and remanufactured by MJ Bowers, ensuring that it is reused in a sustainable manner.

General Waste Management:

All general waste from our facilitiy is collected and sorted by Devon Contract Waste as part of their Zero to Landfill scheme. This ensures that none of our general waste ends up in landfills, further reducing our environmental footprint.

Recycling of Ink Tins and Press Parts:

All of our ink tins and press parts are taken away by J&G Waste to be recycled, promoting a circular economy within our industry.

Energy-Efficient Lighting:

All lighting in our offices and manufacturing areas is LED, which significantly reduces our energy consumption and lowers our carbon footprint.

Environmental Policy

Carly Press is committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainability in all aspects of our business. We recognise our responsibility to operate in an environmentally conscious manner and take steps to minimise the ecological footprint of our activities. This policy outlines our approach to sustainability and the specific actions we are taking to integrate sustainable practices into our operations.
1. Environmental Commitment
- We strive to reduce waste, conserve energy, and use resources responsibly.
- We aim to continuously improve our environmental performance by monitoring, reviewing, and implementing best practices in sustainability.
- We are committed to ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, including UK legislation and international standards.
2. Resource Efficiency
- Paper: We offer 100% recycled paper options where possible, and our in-house silk and gloss stocks are 40% recycled as standard. We only use paper products that carry certifications such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).
- Energy Consumption: We are committed to reducing our energy consumption by using energy-efficient equipment, optimising production processes, and transitioning to renewable energy sources wherever feasible.
- Water Usage: We aim to minimise water usage throughout our printing processes and will regularly review our water management strategies to identify areas for improvement.
3. Waste Reduction and Recycling
- We recycle all paper and carton waste generated in our operations. All paper and carton waste is remanufactured by MJ Bowers, supporting a closed-loop recycling system, ensuring that it is reused in a sustainable manner.
- All of our ink tins and press parts are taken away by J&G Waste to be recycled, promoting a circular economy within our industry.
- All general waste from our facility is collected and sorted by Devon Contract Waste as part of their Zero to Landfill scheme. This ensures that none of our general waste ends up in landfills, further reducing our environmental footprint.
4. Sustainable Materials and Supply Chain
- Eco-Friendly Packaging: We are committed to using packaging materials that are recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable, and we encourage our clients to adopt similar practices.
- Ethical Sourcing: We work with suppliers who share our sustainability values and who provide products and services that meet environmental standards.
5. Carbon Footprint Reduction
- We continuously assess and reduce the carbon footprint of our operations by optimising transportation, using energy-efficient machinery, and adopting green technologies.
- We encourage employees to carpool, use public transport, cycle or switch to electric vehicles to reduce emissions related to commuting.
- We actively offset our carbon emissions and belong to 2 schemes – the ‘Woodland Trust Carbon Capture Scheme’ and the ‘World Land Trust’.
6. Employee Engagement and Education
- We recognise that sustainability is a shared responsibility. We will engage and educate our employees on sustainability practices and encourage them to take part in our green initiatives.
- Staff members are regularly trained on reducing environmental impact in the workplace, and we promote a culture of sustainability through ongoing communication and participation in environmental programs.
7. Client Collaboration
- We encourage our clients to choose sustainable printing options, such as using recycled paper and digital proofs.
- We work closely with clients to develop solutions that reduce their environmental impact, offering guidance on how they can incorporate sustainability into their print projects.
8. Continuous Improvement and Reporting
- We will regularly monitor our sustainability efforts to ensure that we are meeting our environmental goals. We will set clear objectives and assess our performance annually.
- We are committed to transparency and will publicly report on our sustainability progress, making it available to stakeholders and customers.
- We will continually assess new technologies, methods, and materials to ensure that our operations stay at the forefront of sustainable practices.
9. Legal Compliance
- We are committed to meeting all environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards related to sustainability and waste management. This includes adherence to the UK Environmental Protection Act, the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, and the Packaging Waste Regulations.
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
