Why Carly Press?

Carly Press is more than just a business, it's a family tradition that began in 1982. From humble beginnings, we’ve grown into one of the UK’s most trusted and competitive printing companies. Operating from our 9,500 square-foot office and production facility in Wellington, Somerset, just off Junction 26 of the M5. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional in-house printing and graphic design services. As a family-owned and operated business, we’ve always been dedicated to offering superior service. Our approach blends top-tier printing practices with on-time deliveries, all at competitive prices. We’re committed to understanding our clients’ needs, thinking creatively, and always delivering on time.

Carly Press has an in-house team of designers, account managers, printers and finishers with a combined experience of over 500 years. We've made it this far by continuously investing in our people and plant to ensure you have everything you need from one print provider. We are always on hand, ready to help with your project, no matter how large or small. We’re here to support you, offering personalised care and expert solutions. Our Heritage

March 1982

In March 1982, Peter and Marion Gladstone-Smith decided to set up a print business after earlier success in the industry in Oxford. This quickly went from strength to strength, gaining large contracts including Devon & Cornwall Police.

Carly Press today is still very much a family affair

The founders’ son Graeme bought the business in 1996 with his wife Kim, then was later joined by their children Carly and Mark. Today Graeme runs the Large Format and Signage department and Carly, not only the company’s namesake, heads up Fulfilment and Dispatch for Web-To-Print customers. Mark has been in place as the Managing Director for the past 15 years.

The Secret?

It’s simple, with a strong focus on customer service, high-quality products and fair pricing. Always one step ahead, the team have moved the business from the small upstairs premises of Wellington town centre, into a large-scale production facility where they now call Chelston Business Park, HQ.

With further development planned, including the aim to make Carly Press one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable print companies in the UK, whilst still staying faithful to the traits that customers have come to know and trust, there is an exciting future in store.

Business Development and Acquisition has been great for us. Buying established, successful print companies has meant we can absorb the work and take on their talented team to add to ours.

Short and Long Run Printing

Our HP Indigo 7900 is renowned for it’s exceptional quality, combining the flexibility of digital with the superior colour accuracy and richness of traditional offset printing. It is ideal for everything from marketing materials through to high-end publications. Alongside this we run a Xerox Versant Press, ideal for for affordable, high quality, short run or variable data marketing materials.

For extended print runs, we offer litho printing options that are competitively priced to produce brochures, catalogues, books, and high volume leaflets, postcards and flyers. Our litho services also shine in creating promotional materials, custom packaging, educational resources, and financial brochures, delivering high quality, cost-effective solutions for all your printing requirements.

Our mailing and fulfilment team is dedicated to simplifying the process of delivering your printed products directly to your customers. Our experienced fulfilment team excels in assembling packages by hand, allowing for a greater level of personalisation. We are highly skilled in all aspects of mailing and fulfilment, with particular expertise in packing lots of printed materials for multiple locations. Gathering all kinds of print, packing it effectively and sending out to multiple UK addresses is where we excel.

Recyclable Packaging and Paper-Based Tapes:

We exclusively use recyclable packaging materials and paper-based tapes to ensure that our packaging processes are environmentally friendly.

Employee Training and Engagement:

All Carly Press employees receive training on sustainability and the importance of environmental responsibility. We actively encourage our team members to propose new ideas and methods for continuously improving our green practices.

Paper and Carton Recycling:

We recycle all paper and carton waste generated in our operations. This waste is collected and remanufactured by MJ Bowers, ensuring that it is reused in a sustainable manner.

General Waste Management:

All general waste from our facilitiy is collected and sorted by Devon Contract Waste as part of their Zero to Landfill scheme. This ensures that none of our general waste ends up in landfills, further reducing our environmental footprint.

Recycling of Ink Tins and Press Parts:

All of our ink tins and press parts are taken away by J&G Waste to be recycled, promoting a circular economy within our industry.

Energy-Efficient Lighting:

All lighting in our offices and manufacturing areas is LED, which significantly reduces our energy consumption and lowers our carbon footprint.
